Word Problems Constructor

Here you can find the Otter Word Problems Constructor. By the link, you may find the prototype version that will be automatized in a form of an algorithm or an application. Word Problems Constructor is to stimulate your imagination when writing up to ten word problems in a row and suggest quick solutions.

The Constructor consists of three columns. If every word problem can be considered a real-life (or a fantasy life) situation, then...

Column 1, the Setting - where or in what environment the situation happens;

Column 2, the Actors - who participate in the situation;

Column 3, the Objects - what objects are normally used, seen or mentioned in the Setting;

Column 4, Actions - what the actors normally do in the Setting.

You can use the column's content in a suggested sequence (horizontal, left to right, line by line) or combine the contents of lines as long as word problems you create following this scheme makes sense. You can combine the constructor with this easy-to-use tool for synonyms search and SKELL - a tool for students and teachers of English to easily check whether or how a particular phrase or a word is used by real speakers of English.
